Kaia Wallet is a decentralized wallet storing and sending assets on Kaia blockchain. Please be aware of the following crucial concepts before use. Decentralized Wallet Blockchain only proves the ownership of an account through a "private key" and carries out transmission. This private key is produced "randomly" in seed phrase format and is only saved on the user's computer and is not saved by the company. Thus, there is no way to recover the account if the private key is lost and Kaia Wallet is reset. While existing banks and exchanges have a user "account" and manage accounts and assets through the central server, a decentralized wallet does not have this kind of concept, and Kaia Wallet merely serves as a tool to store "private key" on the user's computer and to interact with the Kaia blockchain. Recovery Phrase(Seed Phrase) A recovery phrase is a random combination of words to derive multiple private keys in "definite" and "hierarchical" ways. In other words, the same recovery phrase will always derive the same private key in cryptological, with the account address derived definitely from the private key. Therefore, the recovery phrase serves as ID and password for a Kaia Wallet, and there is no way to recover the wallet when the recovery phrase is lost. Assets could be transferred by anyone acquiring the private key and thus acquiring the ownership of the account when exposed. Generally, no event nor customer center requests a recovery phrase or private key, and such requests could be regarded as fraud or scam. Furthermore, Kaia Wallet could also be hacked if an e-mail or memo service storing the recovery phrase is hacked. It is recommended to save the recovery phrase safely offline (handwritten on a piece of paper). Based on Kaia Blockchain (formerly Klaytn) Kaia blockchain is a mainnet that hard forked from Klaytn and Kaia Wallet is a wallet checking and transferring assets on Kaia blockchain. Please make sure that the coin (token) is based on Kaia when transferring assets to or from Kaia Wallet. Furthermore, transfers cannot be canceled or retrieved after Kaia Wallet generates transactions immediately on the blockchain. Please make sure not to have typos in the receiving address and check whether the address is Kaia-based. (For that reason, most users usually transfer a small quantity first for a test before sending assets as you want.) Kaia is a public blockchain, and no one, including Kaia, is capable of moving or retrieving/freezing the assets of a specific account. The only person who can retrieve the wrong transfer is the entity who knows the account's private key, having received the asset. When the asset is transferred to an address where the private key is unknown (e.g., 0x000...000), there is no way to retrieve the asset, and the asset will remain in that account. Thank you.

An wallet address is open information and a password is limited information to "unlock" Kaia Wallet only in the local PC on which Kaia Wallet is installed. Therefore, it is impossible to prove ownership or restore wallets with that information. In a blockchain system, the ownership of an wallet could be proven only through the wallet's private key (recovery phrase). Thus, you must have the private key (recovery phrase) to restore the wallet. Kaia Wallet is a decentralized wallet in which the recovery phrase and private key of individual users are not stored separately by the company and are only saved on the user's computer that no one can verify/restore. There are cases in which Kaia Wallet is initialized and recovery phrase is lost due to different reasons such as accidental Kaia Wallet reinstallation and deletion, Kaia Wallet initialization in OS/browser update, initialization in Google account synchronization, and formatting due to computer problems. For those cases, you are recommended to record and store your recovery phrase safely in advance to restore your wallet.

Transfer for all transactions is approved based on a "private key". Therefore, please make sure to check the address of the recipient and the transferred amount before transferring assets. No one, including the company, can retrieve/restore the wrong transfer. Since there is no UI that shows item(NFT) directly in Kaia Wallet while item(NFT) could be transferred to Kaia Wallet account address, you must check through external services such as opensea. Whether actual transfer has been made could be seen on item(NFT) Inventory Tab accessed by clicking "See on Klaytnscope" in the account screen showing whether the account is holding items(NFT). On the other hand, Kaia Wallet Mobile supports checking/transferring item(NFT) that importing account on private key of the account will let you check and transfer item(NFT) from the mobile app.

The "password" set on Kaia Wallet is only valid on the computer where Kaia Wallet is currently installed and is only used to unlock Kaia Wallet on your device. In other words, since the password is not stored in our company, we cannot change/initialize or verify it arbitrarily, even if you contact us. Currently, Kaia Wallet does not provide a password retrieval or change, but you can reset your password following the steps below to reinstall Kaia Wallet and recover the same account with the same recovery phrase.

A blockchain system can prove ownership of a wallet and transfer assets only through a private key. Kaia blockchain provides changing the private key of a wallet in case of private key leakage. When a private key is changed, the wallet can't sign transactions with the previous private key anymore. If Kaia Wallet is connected and used for other services such as asset deposit, you should check with the service to see if the private key update affects service usage before proceeding. Wallets with the updated private key cannot sign the "legacy TX" formatted transactions.
If "signature" is not possible with other services, please refer to how to update the modified private key to the "original private key (Legacy key)". Please follow the procedure below and make sure not to make mistakes. The procedure is primarily divided into&nbsp;1) How to change a private key on the Kaia network&nbsp;and&nbsp;2) How to set a new private key in future signing with the changed key on Kaia Wallet.

Since Kaia Wallet does not leave any personal information, the company cannot provide detailed information on who changed the private key from which IP.

To revoke token approval, Kaia Wallet must generate a transaction on it, with a small amount of KLAY used as a transaction fee in the wallet. Please ensure that you have at least 1 KLAY in your wallet before starting the procedure.

There is no function for changing the&nbsp; phrase on Kaia. Instead, you can change the &lsquo;private key&rsquo; for a specific account. If a whole recovery phrase has been exposed to another person, all the wallets derived from that recovery phrase have been exposed. We would recommend that you transfer your assets by creating an &lsquo;wallet&rsquo; with a &lsquo;new recovery phrase&rsquo; rather than using your previous wallet by changing your wallet&rsquo;s private key. -&gt;&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kaiawallet.io/en_US/faq/?id=59" target="_blank" rel="noopener">I want to change my private key due to suspected hacking.</a>

Can the recovery phrase be changed?

I cannot sign on some services after changing my private key. What do I do? 

Hacking generally occurs through a recovery phrase or private key leakage, and the leakage route may be the following cases.
 1. If the private key (recovery phrase) is stored as an image/text file in your PC in which Kaia Wallet is installed, and the PC has been exposed to external access or has been hacked 2. If the private key (recovery phrase) has been input or submitted through a messenger, web, etc. 3. If the private key (recovery phrase) has been stored on a cloud, email, or other online environment and that account has been exposed or hacked 4. If the private key or recovery phrase has been shared with a third party
 If the stored private key is unveiled to someone, that person can acquire all authorization to the wallet. For this reason, it is recommended to scan for viruses with the latest antivirus program and to pay special attention when downloading files from the Internet to prevent damage in advance. We recommend creating a new wallet and transferring assets to that wallet rather than using the hacked wallet. However, the wallet created via simple "account creation" is also likely to be exposed to hacking, since the wallet is created based on the same recovery phrase. According to the following procedures, please reinstall Kaia Wallet and create a new wallet based on a "new recovery phrase".

A blockchain system can prove ownership of an wallet and transfer assets only through a private key, not an individual identity. Therefore, if assets have been transferred to another address, it is difficult to retrieve them unless you know the private key of the address that received assets. Also, there is no fundamental function to freeze a specific wallet on blockchain that you cannot take further measures. Generally, freezing an exchange account refers to freezing the "exchange account" in which the exchange stores all private keys and can use them, which could be a different concept from what users expect. Kaia Wallet is an extension on Chrome, not needing a separate subscription, and can be used freely by anyone when installed. Kaia Wallet does not collect/store individual user information such as the user's private key (recovery phrase) and access IP. Therefore, there is no way to provide information on access records. Furthermore, if the wallet's private key has been exposed, transfers could be sent from other wallets and tools. This means you cannot conclude transfers were made from Kaia Wallet. If you believe your assets have been stolen by hacking, please report to an investigation agency.
